GP Portal now available to all CCGs! Learn more

Welcome to the NHS Anytown GP Portal

This is an example site for the fictional CCG area of Anytown, showcasing the functionality of the GP Portal, developed by HealthWeb Solutions.

The portal provides instinctive navigation of content required by GPs and practice staff, with simple search functions and easy-to-use cross referencing. Using these tools, CCGs are able to ensure that clinicians and practice staff remain up-to-date on referrals, pathways, medicines, prescribing, latest news, emergency notifications and more.

GP Portal is under constant development according to the requirements of CCG clients, and can be customised as necessary to suit a particular CCG’s specific needs. The back end of the site provides easily editable block layouts using an open source content management system (CMS), meaning the portal can be populated and updated without any specialist knowledge of HTML code or design experience. Find out more here.

Content can be arranged in various ways. Click to toggle this section for an explanation

In the sections below, we have the following:

  • a full-width Featured Content section, displayed in a two-row carousel. This shows content that site managers have chosen to be featured
  • a half-width Medicines Updates section, displayed in a three-row carousel. This shows the most recently updated Medicines, as well as the most recently updated News items which are categorised as ‘Medicines Optimisation
  • a half-width Recently Updated section, displayed in a three-row carousel. This shows recently updated content from across the site (but excludes that which appears in Medicines Updates, to avoid duplication)

On other areas of the site, we have simple card views and/or tables to display content. Content can be organised by type (per the navigation menu at the top of the site), by category, and/or by tag. Any combination of these organisational systems can be combined to collate the exact content required for a given page or section, and then display it however it is required. This makes it a particularly valuable resource when viewing content like Medicines (a complete replacement for outdated Formulary lists), as there is no longer a need to download and open spreadsheet files on a desktop computer.

The entire site is responsive, meaning that all content adapts as necessary to the screen size of the browsing device. For instance, the half-width sections below become full-width on mobiles.
